Tour Itinerary
 
Day 1: Arrival in Manali, Drive to Sethan Village, Trek to Chhikka (6 km Trek)
Arrive in Manali and drive to Sethan Village (8 km above Prini on the left bank of the Beas River), the starting point of your trek. From here, follow the trail upstream along the left bank of the Alain River, passing through beautiful meadows and forests. Trek past Kharamdiari (3,400 meters), Sarotu Thatch, and Jabri, then cross over to the right bank of the river. A gentle one-hour walk brings you to Chhikka (3,500 meters), a lush meadow situated above the tree line. Camp here for the night, with the possibility of spotting Gujjar encampments nearby.
 
Day 2: Chhikka to Ratan Thali via Balu ka Ghera (8 km Trek)
Continue following the Alain River as the ascent becomes steeper. After trekking for two hours, reach the vast Jaura Thatch, a high-altitude pasture carpeted with ferns and alpine flowers. Trek further to Balu ka Ghera, a massive depression where the Alain forms a serene lake. The track circles around the lake, and after a 200-meter climb over a rockfall, you'll reach Ratan Thali (3,900 meters), your campsite for the night. From this point, marvel at the majestic peaks of Dharamsura and Papsura (6,000 meters), with glaciers hanging down from all sides.
 
Day 3: Ratan Thali to Hamta Pass and Descent to Chatru (12 km Trek)
Today is the most challenging yet rewarding day of the trek. Start with a stiff one-hour climb to the Hamta Pass (4,270 meters). The view from the pass is mesmerizing—look northward into the barren and cold desert of Lahaul Valley, while behind you lies the lush green Kullu Valley. Descend 2,000 feet down to the Hamta Stream, which flows from the Hamta Glacier to the east and into the Chandra Valley. The descent is steep but rewarding, leading to a pleasant three-hour walk across alpine grasslands along the right bank of the Hamta River. The trek ends at the meeting point of the Hamta and Chandra Rivers, 3 km above the small hamlet of Chatru, located on the Manali-Kaza Highway. Overnight camping at Chatru.
 
Day 4: Chatru to Manali via Rohtang Pass
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive from Chatru to Manali via the Rohtang Pass. Enjoy the striking contrast between the green valleys of Kullu and the barren, cold desert landscapes of Lahaul. On your way, take in the breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges. Arrive in Manali and check into your accommodation for a well-deserved rest.
 
Day 5: Departure from Manali
After breakfast, explore Manali’s local attractions or relax by the riverbanks before your onward journey. Departure from Manali marks the end of this adventurous trek.
