Detailed Itinerary
Day 01 :shimla-Manali - Travel distance and travel time 260 kms/10 hrs) approx night stay at manali________________________________________
Day 02 : Manali and local sightseeing with Solang valley visitToday the day is free for leisure. You can enjoy Manali on your own. Dinner at hotel. STAY IN MANALI________________________________________
Day 03 : Manali-Rohtang Pass-Keylong or Jispa Morning after breakfast start drive toward Jispa. Crossing over Rohtang Pass (3980 m) and crossing beautiful villages of Lahaul Valley. This is our first day of Manali to Srinagar via Ladakh trip. We will drive over legendary Manali Leh road today. On arrival check in at camp/hotel. STAY IN JISPA________________________________________
Day 04 : Jispa- Baralacha Pass- SarchuAfter breakfast start drive toward Sarchu. Crossing Baralacha La Pass (4800 m). Enroute visit 2 lakes Deepak & Suraj Taland. On arrival check in at camp. STAY IN SARCHU________________________________________
Day 05 : Sarchu-LehMorning start drive toward Leh. Today crossing 22 Gata loops, 45 kms Pang ground, second highest motorable pass in world Tanglang La. On arrival check in at hotel/guest house.STAY IN LEH________________________________________
Day 06 : Leh local sightseeingAfter Breakfast visit Shanti Stupa, a popular sunset spot with a panoramic city view and then to Leh Palace, later drop at the local bazaar in Leh to explore the city.
Shanti Stupa (Japanese Peace Pagoda): Shanti Stupa/Japanese peace pagoda is built by a Japanese religious organization headed by Head monk Nakamura with help from the organization and local people. It is situated at a hill top in Changspa village providing a bird’s eye view of the Leh town. Architecturally it has the Japanese touch with small clean rooms on the side for mediators and the main Japanese shrine at the entrance.
Leh Palace: The Palace overlooks Leh town and is modeled on the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. The palace was built by King Sengge Namgyal in the 17th century, but was later abandoned when Dogra forces took control of Ladakh in the mid-19th century. The royal family moved to Stok Palace. Leh Palace is nine storeys high; the upper floors accommodated the royal family, the stables and store rooms were in the lower floors.
The palace, a ruin, is currently being restored by the Archaeological Survey of India. The palace is open to the public and the roof provides panoramic views of Leh and the surrounding areas. The richest collection of jewellery, ornaments, Thangkas, ceremonial dresses, crowns, and centuries-old pieces of jewellery are kept here for public display. There are Chinese Thangka or sooth paintings which are more than 450 years old but still look new. STAY IN LEH
Day 07 : Leh-Khardungla-Nubra (130 kms)Travel distance and travel time (130 kms) approx. Morning drive to Nubra Valley. Crossing over Khardung La. (the highest motorable road in the world) at 5602 M / 18,390 Ft. From the pass one can see all the way south over, the Indus valley, to seemingly endless peaks. Nubra valley is popularly known as Ldumra or the valley of flowers.STAY IN NUBRA________________________________________
Day 08: Nubra to Pangong via Shyok valley (160 kms)Travel distance and travel time (160 kms) approx.Today early morning we start drive towards Pangong Lake through Shyok Valley.On arrival check in at camp. STAY IN PANGONG________________________________________
Day 09 : Pangong-Leh Morning start drive toward Leh back. Visit monastries on the way back to Leh. On Arrival check in at hotel. Rest of day free. STAY IN LEH
Day 10 : Leh/ Lamayuru/ KargilTravel distance and travel time (245 kms) approx After Breakfast start drive to Lamayuru. Visiting Basgo Palace and Lamayuru monastery which is one of the oldest monastery of Ladakh region. Today we will drive over Ladakh and Srinagar highway. In all Manali Leh Srinagar trip we drive over this road. Travel onwards to Kargil Enroute visiting Giant Buddha at Mulbek. On arrival check in.STAY IN KARGIL________________________________________
Day 11 : Kargil/Zojila pass/ SrinagarTravel distance and travel time (204 kms) approx. After Breakfast drive to Srinagar passing through Drass, the second coldest inhabited Place on earth. Today you can see Kargil war memorial, Tiger Hill and other Peaks other famous peaks. Arrive at Srinagar by evening. STAY IN SRINAGAR________________________________________
